India is a country of Gurus and Hermits whose quest for the absolute leads them to a life of solitude, fasting and prayer. In the process of transmitting the Gospel to the soul of Asia, the hermits will have a great role to play. The community looks forward to motivate and prepare those men and women who have an aptitude for a life of solitude to live as hermits.
Single women who have made a life commitment to the Community may, if they themselves and the Community discern the call to do so, consecrate their lives as Consecrated Virgins according to Canon 604. The candidates must be of suitable character and possess sufficient qualities of maturity as an integrated person.
Single Men who have made life commitment to the Community and who are drawn to devote their lives to the praise of God and the salvation of the world through the silence of solitude and through constant prayer and penance may be permitted to consecrate their lives as Consecrated Men (Hermits) in accordance with Canon 603.
