ABOUT SANTVANA > The Three Factors

Praise God the Father

Proclaming the Word Of God

Together with IMS Gen & Provincial

The Three major factors that contributed to the formation of Santvana Community are :

The Call of Pope John Paul II for a new evangelisation

“Look to the future with commitment for a new evangelisation, One that is new in its fervour, New in its methods and New in its expressions” (Pope John Paul II)

The declaration of the decade of evangelisation and the call for a new evangelisation gave a powerful impetus to form a team for the ministry of proclamation. Therefore the Community strives to make known the message of salvation to all people and to motivate, empower and equip the laity everywhere, for the ministry of Prayer and Proclamation of the Word.

Catholic Charismatic Renewal in India

Catholic Charismatic Renewal in India helped Catholics in their life and faith and created an interest in them to share the Gospel of Salvation to all people. The National Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services (NCCRS) has contributed much to the formation of this Community. Most of its members and supporters are from the Charismatic background and from Jesus Youth, a Charismatic Youth Movement. Therefore, the Community is committed to promote Charismatic Renewal in India.

The Constitution of The Indian Missionary Society

The Constitution of IMS upholds that “ Sharing in the mission of the church, this Society has been pioneering evangelisation as its specific aim and the reason for its existence.” The Santvana Community has drawn inspiration from the constitution of the IMS, to dedicate itself to inculturation and the ministry of Proclamation which is “ the foundation, centre and summit of...dynamism ”(RM49) of the complex reality of evangelisation. Moreover Articles 18 & 19 of the constitution of IMS enjoins to involve the laity as collaborators in the apostolate.
